Cebu Caritas-Commission on Service joined hands with SunStar Cebu, PLDT-Smart, Innopub, UP Cebu, and CCLEX in hosting “Truth or Dare”, an interactive media forum.
The event, one of several lined up to mark the 50th year of the declaration of martial law in the Philippines, zeroed in on historical revisionism, historical denialism, efforts to combat disinformation, and cybersecurity.
Speakers included broadcast journalist Christian Esguerra, historian and columnist Manolo Quezon III, and Elijah Mendoza of Smart. Cebu Caritas Good Governance head Msgr. Daniel Sanico closed the half-day event with exhortations from Pope Francis on fake news.
Youth volunteers were also organized by Cebu Caritas to assist in the production aspects of the event.
Cebu Caritas Inc. is the mandated social action arm of the Archdiocese of Cebu. It serves the Anawim through its Humanitarian, Developmental, and Justice and Peace programs.
