Forty Parish Caritas Coordinators and BEC Alagads participated in the district-level seminar conducted by Cebu Caritas

40 Parish Caritas Coordinators and BEC Alagads from 17 parishes of District 4 (Southwest) of the Archdiocese of Cebu participated in the district-level Capacity Building and Consultation seminar conducted by Cebu Caritas on October 1, 2022 at St. Joseph Parish in Sangi, Alegria, Cebu.

Cebu Caritas Program Director Fr. Alden John Baran gave the rationale of the activity.

Cebu Caritas Good Governance Head Msgr. Daniel Sanico shared his theological reflection and situationer. Cebu Caritas Justice and Peace Coordinator Retired Court of Appeals Executive Justice Gabriel Ingles discussed Good Governance, zeroing in on “Public Office as a Public Trust”. Cebu Archdiocesan Social Advocacies volunteer Patrick Torres shared some insights on Ecology entitled “Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor”. Cebu Caritas Digital News Media Specialist Max Limpag, in a recorded video, gave some tips how to fight disinformation and fake news.

In the afternoon, Cebu Caritas Humanitarian Coordinator Kendrick Miñoza facilitated the Focus Group Discussion. To cap the event, participants signed a Pledge of Commitment to uphold Good Governance, promote Integral Ecology and fight Disinformation and Historical Denialism.

The activity is part of Cebu Caritas’ efforts to promote Caritas Philippines’ twin advocacies of Good Governance and Ecology.
