Some 400 Parish Caritas representatives from various parishes in the Archdiocese of Cebu joined the 2nd Parish Caritas Capacity Building and Formation Workshop at the Pope John XXIII Seminary Gym on August 6, 2022. The gathering had the theme “Nagkahiusa sa Gugma.”
The activity was organized by Cebu Caritas in partnership with Tzu Chi Foundation.
Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma presided over the mass which was followed by the orientation and inputs from the officers and volunteers of Tzu Chi Foundation.
In the afternoon, Cebu Caritas Program Director Fr. Alden John Baran gave an update on the implementation of Parish Caritas and its future activities in strengthening its network. Cebu Caritas Media Specialist Volunteer Max Limpag shared insights in spotting and fighting fake news and disinformation. Renowned photojournalist Victor Kintanar also discussed basic photography and videography techniques. Cebu Caritas Communications Head Atty. Maria Jane Paredes shared the basics of newswriting.
Cebu Caritas President and Executive Director Fr. Alex Cola, Jr. expressed his gratitude for the success of the event and said he looks forward to a sustained partnerhsip with Tzu Chi Foundation and Cebu Caritas that would benefit our Parish Caritas particularly the Anawim.
Cebu Caritas Inc. is the mandated social action arm of the Archdiocese of Cebu. It serves the Anawim through its Humanitarian, Developmental, and Justice and Peace programs.
